Spreading love, joy, hope and peace this Christmas

bhouse0

Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year. I love celebrations, particularly celebrating the birth of Jesus. Catching up with my friends and family is also something I love to do and this seems to happen a lot more at this time of the year. I love planning the holidays and how I am going to spend them with my family. And I love having a break from routine and having to be somewhere at a particular time!

As a family we have a few Christmas traditions. Before we open any gifts, we always read the story of how Christmas is all about celebrating the birth of our Saviour. We also have a red envelope on our tree. In this envelope is a note saying who our family has blessed this Christmas with a financial donation. It’s really important to me that our children think about others and not just themselves at this time of the year.

I acknowledge that Christmas is not always a happy time of the year for many people. There may be all sorts of reasons for this, but missing someone at Christmas, financial burden, relationship breakdowns can cause much pain. As Christians my prayer is that we will notice these people this Christmas and spread the love of Jesus. We know the Saviour of the world who brings joy when there is no joy; hope when there is no hope; peace when there is no peace. This Christmas my prayer is that people see Jesus in us!

May you find God’s love, joy, peace and hope this Christmas and share it to the one/s in front of you!
