Determination

bhouse0

I’ve been thinking about determination a bit lately. I consider myself to be a determined person! Determined to have the last say, determined to win an argument, determined to prove right, determined to keep things clean, determined to fit 34 hrs into 24….sadly probably all true! But I am also determined to do a job well and to see others succeed. I am determined to bring out the best in people and to be a positive in the world of those around me. I am determined to do my job well. I am determined to be organised, to be kind, to live a lifestyle of gratitude, to find the gold, to not gossip, and to be proud of my digital footprint. I am determined to be a good mother to my children. Although I may fail at these things from time to time (and I have failed many times in life), I am determined to live a life based on the word of God. Over the past 4 and a half years, I have been determined to daily meet with God and to read His word. Lately, I’ve been studying Paul’s letters and I have chosen 5 key points that I want to be determined to live by each day and I encourage you to do the same.

  • Determined to magnify Christ and represent Him well

  • Determined to spread the Good News of who Jesus is

  • Determined to fix my thoughts on God, not what’s around me

  • Determined to be light in the darkness, and

  • Determined to live in the truth of the Word of God

My determination is to make the name of Jesus greater than anything or anyone else in this world. To make him bigger than my past, to make him bigger than my hurts and struggles and triumphs and successes, to magnify him in all that I do!

One of my favorite Bible passages is Hebrews 12:1-2, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”

Keeping my eyes on Jesus allows me to keep running with determination. What are you determined to live like? I encourage you to be determined to live wholeheartedly for the Lord and fix your eyes on Him!
